Ginette had to say...Since I'm disabled and don't have much energy to move around, I spend hours and hours at my computer or reading. I also enjoy crafts and used to love traveling but I can't travel far any more. I'm glad I got lots of my travelling in (Europe; cross-country; Canada) before I became ill. I used to be a mental health therapist and have had a lifelong fascination with what makes people tick. Forensic psychology is one area I've considered entering but after reading many true-crime books, I don't think I could be objective enough to question or interview people who have committed heinous crimes, especially against children. People who are very spiritual and truly good also fascinate me. I like to read a lot about saints. Unfortunately, there are many more of the "evil" sort running around. But I love fiction mysteries, especially those that are mysteriously suspenseful and those that have an element of psyhological suspense to them. If there's any humor in the story, it's a bonus. Martha Grimes, with her Richard Jury series, comes to mind. Ruth Rendell is my favorite psycholgical suspense writer (not her Wexford series). I'm amazed that Ms. Rendell can be so prolific and write so well. I was selling stuff on eBay; mainly artists' dolls & accessories and collectibles. I had to stop for now because Ebay's fees, after their increase with listing and other fees have prohibited me from making a small profit. I plan to list on other online auctions and even on one that offers a free store. As for the many hardcover books I have, I also plan to sell them on the free website as well as listing them for sale on book venues. This is supposed to happen soon - if I could just get away from reading and my computer surfing! Other books I like are certain classics with writers such as Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Mark Twain. Flaubert is my favorite. There are also some modern writers I really like, such as Augustus Burroughs (one of the funniest writers I've ever read), Pearl S. Buck, O. Henry, Rita Mae Brown, etc. I love books that are set in another historical period. If it's a good writer, I feel like I'm being transported to a totally different time in history. The changes in culture, society mores, dress, warmongering, etc. may be evident but people haven't changed much! Well, got to get off this computer and get some Christmas cards made! Love this book "club" and hope you do too.... Ginette
